AAHP Observes World AIDS Day

Each year, the African American Health Program observes World AIDS Day on December 1. This day calls for reflection and remembrance of the lives lost to HIV/AIDS while highlighting AAHP’s work and commitment to building an HIV-free future. It is also a day of celebration and support for the millions of people living with HIV/AIDS worldwide.

Data from the 2018 Montgomery County Annual HIV Epidemiological Profile reveals that African Americans in Montgomery County are disporportionately impacted by HIV and in 2018 made up 61% of new diagnoses as 17% of the County population. To address this disparity,  AAHP offers HIV/AIDS education, counseling, testing and other sexual health resources for African Americans in Montgomery County.

AAHP encourages Montgomery County residents to observe World AIDS Day by getting tested, making an appointment to get tested, or by sharing information and resources on HIV/STI testing and prevention. Today, AAHP offers free and confidential HIV testing and counseling at the following locations:
