August is Breastfeeding Month

August is National Breastfeeding Month, an observance that celebrates breastfeeding and its numerous benefits for mothers and babies. While it’s commonly understood that breastfeeding provides a plethora of health benefits for infants, most people don’t know that those benefits can last a lifetime. That’s why, this and every August, AAHP celebrates the beauty of breastfeeding.

AAHP Invites Montgomery County Residents to Know? Community Day 2019

AAHP and its community partners invite all Montgomery County residents to join us for a day of family fun at AAHP Community Day 2019, taking place on Saturday, April 27 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Silver Spring Civic Center in Downtown Silver Spring. This year’s theme, “KNOW?” will encourage attendees to know their numbers and participate in AAHP’s health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, body mass, etc.

AAHP Celebrates Black History Month!

It’s Black History Month, a special time to reflect on the amazing achievements made by African Americans! Right before the Civil War, Montgomery County was home to more than 7,000 African Americans (compared to185,000 African Americans today). After Emancipation, in Montgomery County and nationwide, African Americans continued to be severely impacted by discrimination and lack of access to health care.
