Stand Up to Reduce Your Risk for Type 2 Diabetes

Recent research indicates that increasing time spent standing may help reduce the incidence of type 2 diabetes in sedentary adults. A recent study using accelerometers (which measure mobility) to monitored 64 inactive patients aged 40 to 65 for an average of about 14.5 hours each day for four days. The research discovered that those who stood more often had improved insulin sensitivity.

AAHP is partnering with Kingdom Fellowship A.M.E Church on Sunday, October 10th to present a virtual breast cancer panel discussion from 11:00am-12:30pm. The event will include special presentations from Dr. Nancie Richberg, Kick Start Your Health instructor; Mrs. Serena Holtz, a SMILE nurse; Mrs. Wanda Smith, AAHP’s social worker, as well as three other thriving survivors.

Seniors and Disabled Citizens Can Receive Free Rides to COVID Vaccination and Testing Sites

Older adults and residents with disabilities can receive free transportation to COVID-19 vaccination and testing locations from taxi companies operating in Montgomery County. COVID-19 Update

According to the CDC, 76.8% of Montgomery County residents have received the first COVID-19 vaccine shot and 70% were fully vaccinated as of last week; however, with Delta variant beginning to make an appearance in the community, infection rates have slightly increased.
