AAHP Partnering with Kingdom Fellowship AME to Host Virtual Breast Cancer Forum

AAHP is partnering with Kingdom Fellowship A.M.E Church on Sunday, October 10th to present a virtual breast cancer panel discussion from 11:00am-12:30pm. The event will include special presentations from Dr. Nancie Richberg, Kick Start Your Health instructor; Mrs. Serena Holtz, a SMILE nurse; Mrs. Wanda Smith, AAHP’s social worker, as well as three other thriving survivors.

Seniors and Disabled Citizens Can Receive Free Rides to COVID Vaccination and Testing Sites

Older adults and residents with disabilities can receive free transportation to COVID-19 vaccination and testing locations from taxi companies operating in Montgomery County. Seniors Ride Free on All County Buses

People over the age of 65 and residents with disabilities are entitled to free transportation on all County buses, including the Ride On, Ride On extRa, Flex, and Flash buses. Even if fares for the general public are reinstated, the ride-free program will continue to operate. The free ride program is also available on a limited number of Metrobus lines that operate inside Montgomery County.

Senior Planet Offering New Digital Essentials Sessions

A new session of Digital Essentials, a virtual course developed especially for carers and receivers of care over the age of 60, is now being offered by Senior Planet. The goal of this free, 6-week virtual course is to teach you how digital tools and platforms can make daily activities more convenient. Registration is now available for the sessions beginning on August 9th and 10th!

Maryland Senior Olympics Now Underway

The Maryland Senior Olympics (MSO) are officially underway and registration is open for many events that will take place through October. Montgomery County will host numerous events for men and women ages 50+ in age-group competitions in sports such as archery, track and field, swimming, tennis, golf, cycling, softball, shuffleboard, 3-on-3 basketball, and more.
