AAHP & MCFRS Conduct Home Safety Checks for Seniors

AAHP’s aging liaison Elisse Barnes collaborated with Jim Resnick of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) to combine AAHP’s health screenings with free home safety inspections provided by MCFRS. In observance of Fall Prevention Awareness Month in September, AAHP completed 43 home safety checks. In this engagement, AAHP, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services and the Community Risk Reduction Section of MCFRS touched African American seniors in all parts of Montgomery County from Germantown to Burtonsville to Takoma Park.

August is Breastfeeding Month

August is National Breastfeeding Month, an observance that celebrates breastfeeding and its numerous benefits for mothers and babies. While it’s commonly understood that breastfeeding provides a plethora of health benefits for infants, most people don’t know that those benefits can last a lifetime. That’s why, this and every August, AAHP celebrates the beauty of breastfeeding.

AAHP Invites Montgomery County Residents to Know? Community Day 2019

AAHP and its community partners invite all Montgomery County residents to join us for a day of family fun at AAHP Community Day 2019, taking place on Saturday, April 27 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Silver Spring Civic Center in Downtown Silver Spring. This year’s theme, “KNOW?” will encourage attendees to know their numbers and participate in AAHP’s health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, body mass, etc.
