Maryland Senior Olympics Now Underway

The Maryland Senior Olympics (MSO) are officially underway and registration is open for many events that will take place through October. Montgomery County will host numerous events for  men and women ages 50+ in age-group competitions in sports such as archery, track and field, swimming, tennis, golf, cycling, softball, shuffleboard, 3-on-3 basketball, and more. The complete list can be found at: https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/rec/activitiesandprograms/seniors/.

Competitors in MSO do not need to be seasoned athletes or champions in training to compete in the event. All that is required of participants is that they are above the age of 50 and ready to take part. "To Participate is to Win," is the motto of the MSO. Most competitions pay a small entry fee. The Maryland Senior Olympics Commission strongly advises that competitors get a complete course of vaccinations prior to competing. The Senior Olympics will be held in accordance with the standards established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The track and field competition, which will take place Saturday and Sunday, August 7-8, at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, is one of the forthcoming events. Please see https://mdseniorolympics.org/ for more information on registration and the activities taking place this year.
