March is National Nutrition Month

Good nutrition is vital to good health! This March, AAHP joins the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in celebrating National Nutrition Month® 2019. AAHP encourages all Black Montgomery County residents to join us in learning how nutrition and physical activity can transform lives.

AAHP Celebrates Black History Month!

It’s Black History Month, a special time to reflect on the amazing achievements made by African Americans! Right before the Civil War, Montgomery County was home to more than 7,000 African Americans (compared to185,000 African Americans today). After Emancipation, in Montgomery County and nationwide, African Americans continued to be severely impacted by discrimination and lack of access to health care.

January is Cervical Health Awareness Month

This January, AAHP observes Cervical Health Awareness Month by encouraging Black women and girls in Montgomery County to learn the facts about cervical cancer and other gynecological cancers. Although cervical cancer is highly preventable, more than 4,000 women die from cervical cancer each year, with Black women dying in disproportionately higher numbers.
